Akara is a platform for developing data services available on the Web, using REST architecture. Akara is open source software written in Python and C.
Akara provides the data pipeline for Zepheira's Freemix and for The Library of Congress's Recollection project. The Reference Extract project, a collaboration of The MacArthur Foundation, OCLC, and Zepheira, uses Akara to process information about topics and related Web pages to provide measures of page credibility. Cleveland Clinic used Akara as a platform for processing patient data records. Akara provided pluggable content service modules for the Knowledge Discovery System at Elsevier. Sun Microsystems used Akara as a component in its global content delivery network.
